Chhayrorn is 23 years old. She was born in the Kompong Cham Province in Cambodia, and she has two older sisters and five younger siblings. She is the third child in the family.

When Chhayrorn was younger, she wanted to become a doctor, but after she finished High School her father fell ill. “My parents couldn’t afford for me to go to school. They wanted me to stop going to school. But I wanted to learn, and I wanted to learn in Phnom Penh, but I didn’t have money to go to school.”

Chhayrorn began to look for a job in Phnom Penh to be able to support herself, but she was having a difficult time and couldn’t pay for rent or school. “I think that if you want a good job in Cambodia, you must have an education, be smart, go to school. And you must have skills in English and computers.”

One day Chhayrorn biked past DDD’s office in Phnom Penh and she saw a sign advertising jobs at DDD. She took the admission test, and although it was difficult, she passed. “When my parents found out that I was going to work at DDD they were very happy because they thought that now I could finish college and I could support myself.”

Today, Chhayrorn has been working at DDD for two years, and in five months she graduates from the Build Bright University in Phnom Penh with a degree in Finance and Banking. Her father passed away in December last year due to his illness.

“DDD has helped a lot since I’ve started working here. They gave me a job, a scholarship to study at university, insurance for healthcare and eyecare. I am also supporting my sister’s studies at university. If it wasn’t for me, she would maybe just have finished high school, or perhaps have become a public school teacher. I love DDD.”
